The short version
You pay the seller directly by Interac e-Transfer. Tickets 4 Fans never holds your money at any point, so there is no balance for us to refund from and no payment for us to reverse. We are not an escrow service and we do not insure your purchase.
What we do have is the relationship with the seller. Every seller is a verified Toronto season seat holder whose seat ownership we checked personally, and who wants to keep selling here. That is real leverage, and it is what our support actually runs on — but it is leverage, not a guarantee, and we would rather say so plainly than imply a protection that does not exist.
What Tickets 4 Fans does when something goes wrong
Email support@tickets4fans.ca or use the WhatsApp button anywhere on the site. Support is founder-run — Tan answers seven days a week — so there is no ticket queue and no call centre.
From there we:
- Contact the seller directly and press for delivery or a resolution, using the phone number and identity we already hold on file.
- Help both sides work the problem through the ticket issuer — Ticketmaster or the team's own account manager — which is usually where a failed transfer actually gets fixed.
- Suspend the seller's listings so the same problem cannot reach another buyer while it is open.
- Revoke the seller's verification if they fail to deliver or stop responding. That ends their ability to list on Tickets 4 Fans.
What Tickets 4 Fans cannot do
We cannot refund you, because we never received your money. We cannot reverse an Interac e-Transfer once the seller has accepted it — that is a property of e-Transfer itself, not a policy choice. We cannot compel a seller to pay you back, and we do not maintain a fund that pays out when one does not.
If a seller simply refuses, the honest answer is that your recourse is the same as it would be with any private sale between two people: the seller, your financial institution, and if it comes to it, the ordinary legal routes. We will give you everything we hold that helps you pursue it.
Specific situations
Ticket never arrives. Contact us before the event if at all possible — a failed transfer can often be re-sent, and that is the outcome we can actually influence. We contact the seller, escalate through the issuer, and pull their listings while it is open. If they fail to make it right they lose their verification. There is no payout from Tickets 4 Fans.
The event is rescheduled. Your tickets stay valid for the new date; this is handled by the issuer, not by us. If you cannot attend the new date, contact founder and owner Tan to find out how you can relist them on Tickets 4 Fans at no cost — there is no seller commission, so you keep whatever you sell them for.
The event is cancelled outright with no replacement date. Refunds for cancelled events come from the ticket issuer, and they generally go to the account the tickets were originally bought under, which is the seller's. We will help you and the seller work that through, and in our experience most season seat holders pass a refund on. But we cannot compel it, and if the seller does not, you are out of pocket. That is the clearest consequence of a no-escrow model and you should weigh it before you buy.
The listing turns out to be misrepresented. Tell us. Section, row and price are what we can check against what was listed, and a seller who misrepresents seats does not stay verified.
How to protect yourself
Because the platform does not stand behind the payment, these steps matter more here than they would elsewhere. They are also the steps that make a problem recoverable rather than final.
- Ask the seller to prove they hold the tickets before you send any money. The right proof is a screenshot from the Ticketmaster or team account they will transfer from, showing the game, section, row and seat numbers, with the date and time visible on screen. A seller who has what they say they have will not mind being asked, and it is the same check we run when we verify them. Keep in mind that this screenshot is proof of possession, not the ticket itself — delivery still has to be an official transfer.
- Accept only an official transfer into your own Ticketmaster or team account. A screenshot, a PDF or a photo of a ticket is not a ticket and can be sent to any number of people.
- Keep the WhatsApp thread and your e-Transfer receipt. If we need to escalate, that record is what we work from.
- If anything feels wrong — a rushed seller, a request to pay somewhere else, a price far below everything comparable — stop and message us before you pay. We would much rather answer that question than the one that comes afterwards.
Why we do it this way
Holding buyer funds would mean becoming a payments business, and the processing costs that come with it are exactly what the fee-free model exists to avoid. Today a $100 listing costs $100, with no buyer fee, no seller commission and no processing fee. Adding escrow would change that, and we are not willing to quietly make tickets more expensive.
That is a real trade-off rather than a free one, and it is reasonable to decide it is not the trade you want. If platform-held funds matter more to you than price, a marketplace that holds them is the better choice, and we would rather you know that from us than find out afterwards.
